Out: Dejah Thoris #3 and Queen Sonja #16

The first installment of my latest Queen Sonja arc is out in the wild. The return of Thulsa Doom! I wrote this exactly a year ago, so weird people only get to read it now. Edgar Salazar is the artist, and he's just great – I wish he had his own Web site. Page 8 is my favorite thing about this issue, when Thulsa makes a big discovery. Potentially a spoiler, so click on the deliberately vague thumbnail below to check it out. If you dare.

Also out this week: Dejah Thoris #3. This one seems to be really burnin' up the stands; thanks to everyone who gives it such rave reviews! Plus, two of my favorite covers by Joe Jusko and Paul Renaud so far.

Carlos keeps slaying the interiors – page 4 is my favorite from this issue. Also a little bit of a spoiler, another "big reveal", heh...

Thulsa Doom #4 in stores

Thulsa Doom Issue 4 front cover

Thulsa Doom Issue 4 Front Cover, art by Alex Ross

The final installment of the four-issue Thulsa Doom miniseries hits stores today. And we saved the best for last! Reviews of the first three issues have been really positive, and I hope this one lives up to expectations. It just feels great to have the entire series out there for people to judge as a whole.

Thulsa Doom is an early creation of Robert E. Howard. Most people know him from James Earl Jones's character from the original Conan movie. This series recounts Thulsa's story thousands of years before Conan's time, before he was such a bad guy...

Art by Lui Antonio, cover by the great Alex Ross... and writing by me!

"If you like butt-shots, you’ll love this comic book!"

Thulsa Doom #1 in stores today

Thulsa Doom #1!

Thulsa Doom #1!

That painting is by none other than the legendary Alex Ross. He's doing covers for all four issues!

James Earl Jones's Thulsa Doom from the 1982 Conan movie has to be one of the greatest villains of all time. The story we're telling takes place long before Thulsa became quite so twisted and evil...

...but it's still dark. We're really trying to fuse the post-apocalyptic and fantasy genres into one ooey, gooey ball of death and destruction with Thulsa Doom.

I think/hope it's going to be an intense series! I'm just finishing the script for the final issue right now.
